Cell behaviors on wild silks, A.Pernyi and A.Yamamai, comparing with Bombyx.mori silk
The utilization of wild silk is still in progress in the research and is promising in the medical field as, for example, wound dressing thanks to its good biocompatibility.Compared to Bombyx mori, the Antheraea pernyi and Antheraea yamamai are way less used in the medical field. The goal of this research is to find functional properties of wild-silk based materials made of these particular wild silks. Many studies have found good results about cell proliferation for regeneration of cartilage, skin or even bones.Aim to medical applications of wild silks, the process of fabrications should be safe for living body, thus the solvent should be water based solutions. We had found that Antheraea pernyi is sometimes not easy to manipulate for the fabrication through the aqueous solution. Therefore, we examined to mix normal silk (B.mori) to wild silks based on all aqueous solutions.By combining wild silks with normal silk, we found cells to be more likely to proliferate than normal silk.Further, more cells are spread on the wild silk mixed samples than the normal silk only.We will present the cell mobility on the mixed silk films by time laps observation, the surface properties by contact angle measurement, the surface structure by ATR FTIR and SEM.
