Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Split Power Transmissions

This paper proposes a nonlinear lumped parameter dynamic model of a typical split power transmission with dual power paths. The proposed model considers time varying mesh stiffness, tooth separation phenomenon, tooth profile errors and run-out errors. The expressions of the above elements are discussed in detail.Based on the dynamic model, the numerical solutions are obtained to predict the effects of the tooth backlash, tooth profile error and run-out error on the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the system both in frequency domain and time domain. The results demonstrate that, ①the nonlinear dynamic characteristics no longer change when the tooth backlash is large enough;②the nonlinear dynamic characteristics is more obvious as the tooth profile error is larger;③the run-out error of the pinion on each power path is a significant cause of the unequal load sharing.
