Model for Predicting Vehicle Speed on Uphill Road
Based on vehicles dynamics theory, operation theory, and investigated shifting performance, the speed predicting model of vehicles on uphill road was established.By analyzing the typical truck, Dongfeng EQ1108G6D13 and Dongfeng EQ1290W, the change law of vehicles climbing speed were obtained which mainly affected by the parameters including the slope length, gradient, load and the initial speed at the bottom of slope.A field comparative test was carried on to validate the correctness of the model. The result shows that the speed predicted by the model agrees well with the test speed, and the maximum relative error is only 1.56% under the condition of no vehicle shifting, while it is 3.68% if the vehicle shifted. The model is applicable to various types of heavy vehicles under any vertical alignment conditions. The study provides a reference for the heavy vehicles design and for the road alignment design and assessment.
