Numerical Simulation of Friction Stir Backward Extrusion
Friction stir backward extrusion (FSBE), as a novel plastic forming process, is capable to refine grain structure and improve mechanical property.In this paper,established a reasonable mechanical model for FSBE, investigation into tube forming process is carried out by the FEM numerical simulation.The distribution of the stress and strain is obtained.And main deformation occurs near the corner and bottom of the punch.Then comparing with the traditional backward extrusion, force during FSBE is far below another one.Therefore FSBE is a new extrusion process saving energy.And the results can serve as a significant guide to develop new extrusion technology.
