Strain generation and morphology studies of FeV2O4 film
We fabricated epitaxial FeV2O4 film with different thickness on SrTiO3, LaAlO3 and MgAl2O4 by pulsed laser deposition.X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the lattice constants of FeV2O4 films behave differently on different substrates. The compressive strain in the films on MgAl2O4 is dominantly controlled by the in-plane lattice mismatch. In contrast the strain states in the films on LaAlO3 and SrTiO3 substrates can be explained by the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients between the films and substrates. The FeV2O4 film is tetragonal at room temperature different from its bulk with a cubic structure.Atomic force microscopy images revealed a self-assembled pattern with rectangular particles growing on the surfaces of films.
