Real-time monitoring and control of large-aperture tiled-grating compressor in XG-Ⅲ laser facility
In high power laser systems based on chirped-pulse amplification (CPA) technique, grating tiling technique can multiply the grating area, allowing laser pulse with more energy to be compressed. In this paper, a unique feedback control system to precisely align the two-pass full-tiled grating compressor (TGC) has been realized in the XG-Ⅲ PW-class laser facility.Far-field images of both 0th order and-1st order diffraction light of the tiled grating assembly (TGA) are recorded using one CCD camera, by which the tiling errors of the TGA can be identified and corrected via control system in real-time without disturbing the main beam.A final compressed pulse of 615fs (FWHM) with a focal spot about 1.1 times of the diffraction limited (XDL) size is achieved.
