Analysis of the Tool Wear, Chip Formation and Cutting Force in High-speed Cutting of Titanium Alloy Ti6Al4V Using Finite Element Method

High-speed machining technology is one of the key technology to resolve difficult materials machining due to its advantages now.The finite element method (FEM) is regarded as a very useful tool to study the cutting process of materials. Therefore, the finite element model of high-speed cutting of titanium alloy is established based on the general finite element software ABAQUS,the Johnson-Cook constitutive equation and the contact friction model. Then the serrated chip formation, the tool wear and the cutting force are analyzed during the high-speed cutting of titanium alloy Ti6Al4V.
