Investigation of machining performance in MQL cutting of Inconel 718 with an internal cooling tool
Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) has been accepted as a successful semi-dry application, which can be helpful to environment and cost control without degrading the machining quality.In this paper, an intemal cooling tool was introduced to cut Inconel 718 under MQL condition.Experimental methods were performed to study the machining performance of Inconel 718.Dry and wet cutting tests were also conducted as comparisons.The results show that the cutting temperature and cutting force under MQL condition is lower than the dry condition and higher than the wet condition.With suitable cutting parameters, the MQL cutting can get better surface quality.The study in this paper can be a guide to the machining of nickel-based superalloy components.
