Effects of different tool materials on tool wear of cemented carbides micro end mill
In this paper, the effects of Co content and WC grain size on the tool wear of cemented carbides micro mill in the machining of aluminum alloy 7075 are investigated.The surface morphology of micro mill is observed in a cutting length by scanning electron microscopy and laser scanning microscope.The results show Co content and WC grain size of cemented carbides has significant effects on the tool wear of micro end mill.The micro mill fabricated with smaller grain sizes presents better wear resistance.The micro mill with higher Co content tends to less wear resistance.
