Compression Properties of 3D Integrated Woven Spacer Composites with Different Pile Yarn Densities

Three-Dimensional (3D) integrated woven spacer composites have attracted increasing attention due to extensive application prospect. However, the interrelationship of pile yarns and compressive performance in spacer composites has been rarely studied. We prepare spacer fabrics with different pile yam densities and their composites, and investigates the effect on compressive properties of the composites. The results indicate that the variation of pile yam densities is not proportional to the change of compressive load, and the compression performance of spacer composites can be effectively improved by the bonding between pile yams.In addition, under a small load, the plastic deformation of spacer composites increases and the elastic deformation decreases with the increase of pile yarn densities, but under the large load, the structural stability of the spacer composites is improved and the ability of compressive deformation decreases with the increase of pile yam densities.
