The Relationships between Pore Structure and Moisture Permeability of Worsted Wool Fabric

  In order to study the mechanism of the porosity of the worsted wool fabric and moisture permeability, the volume porosity, surface porosity and average pore size are used to describe the porosity of the fabric from three angles.And three empirical models of volume porosity, surface porosity, average pore size and wet resistance which are established by regression analysis method are significant.And the results indicate feasibility to predict the moisture permeability by the porosity indexes.The fitting degree between the volume porosity and the wet resistance is the best.The empirical models indicate that pore structures have a complex effect on moisture.The fabric produces a contact resistance when pores contact with moisture.As the contact area become larger, the contact resistance also becomes the greater in a certain range.As the porosity gradually increases, the thickness factor becomes critical.The thickness hampers moisture by increasing transmission channel.When the porosity and pore size are large enough, convective phenomenon plays a leading role.
