Effect of Elastic Fleecy Yarns on Mechanical Hysteresis of Plain Stitch Fabrics during Tensile Process
In an attempt to achieve a kind of fabric with large deformation as well as low mechanical hysteresis, two kinds of plain stitch fabrics are used as test specimens to study their different hysteretic properties. The two fabrics are knitted with the same polyurethane/spandex covered yarns. For one fabric, some elastic fleecy yarns hung in the form of tuck loops regularly on some stitches.Hysteresis of tensile load-strain route of plain stitch fabric with elastic fleecy yarns under circular extension and recovery progresses is more than four times lower than that of the other plain stitch fabric with no elastic fleecy yarns.Such a large difference is investigated in terms of the mechanical and visco-elastic properties of these two kinds of fabrics and fleecy yarns that pulled out from the knitted fabrics, the internal action between plain stitch fabric and elastic fleecy yarns was studied as well. Results shows that the dominate role that fleecy yam plays in the stretching progress of fabrics leads to a large similarity in hysteretic property between elastic fleecy yarns and plain stitch fabric with elastic fleecy yarns. On the other hand, the friction effect caused by fleecy yarns, and the shrinkage of the plain knitted fabrics resulted from the shrinking force of extended fleecy yarns work together to decrease the sliding between plain stitch fabrics crossing points.
