Facile Fabrication of Silver Nanoparticles Modified Fabric through Mussel-Inspired Chemistry (Lactic Acid) Composites

Dopamine (DA) has received extensive attentions because of its good reducibility, self-polymerization and adhesive capability to the substrate. In our work, we report a simple strategy for facilely and efficiently fabricating silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) modified fabric based on the fascinating properties of DA.A thin adherent polydopamine (PDA) coating is prepared by immersing the fabric into the DA solution due to the self-polymerization property of DA.The PDA modified fabric was dipped into the Ag + ions solution to form Ag NPs by the assistant of the PDA reducing groups. The obtained Ag NPs was 89 nm in diameter with a good control of nanoparticle size and distribution. The preparation procedure is completed without any complex instruments and harsh conditions. Also, owing to the exceptional self-adhesive nature, the Ag NPs has a good stability on the surface of the fabric.
