Study on the Alternative of New FEVE Reinforced Membrane to PTFE Membrane

  PTFE membrane is widely used in various types of large-scale permanent buildings with its excellent anti-aging,anti-fire and self-cleaning performances.But meanwhile with high molding temperature, high energy consumption and high cost, safety requirements and limited selection of textile base materials, the researchers begin to develop low-temperature (200℃) processing FEVE (Fluoroethylene Vinyl Ether) membrane.FEVE resin (a polymer made of fluoroolefin monomer such as chlorotrifluoroethylene or tetrafluoroethylene copolymerized with vinyl ether or ester monomer) has excellent weather resistance and stain resistance properties and can be processed from room temperature to high temperature.The advantages and feasibility of the low temperature processing technology of FEVE membrane are illustrated in this paper by comparing the selection of raw materials, the production process, mechanical properties and self-cleaning performance between PTFE membrane and FEVE membrane.This technology expanded selection range of textile base materials used in membrane and mechanical properties of FEVE membrane can be achieved or close to the PTFE membrane, meanwhile self-cleaning properties can meet the basic requirements of the general membrane.
