THE ERA OF TALL BUILDINGS: FOCUS ON OUTRIGGER SYSTEMS
This paper aims to provide an overview of structural systems and address recent efforts to resolve issues in tall buildings by focusing on outrigger systems.Essential structural considerations in tall buildings are discussed and typical structural systems including tubular structures, framed tube structures, braced tube structures, bundled tube structures, and outrigger systems are introduced.Finally, the problems associated with outrigger systems are reviewed and recent efforts to resolve them are discussed in detail.
