50 YEARS OF BRIDGE MANAGEMENT IN USA: 1967-2017

摘要：

　　Contemporary bridge management in the United States turns 50 in 2017.During the creation and expansion of infrastructure networks engineering typically tackles structural design, construction, maintenance and evaluation in this order.The management of existing assets however, has had to reverse the order, beginning with structural condition evaluation and emergency repairs, following up with maintenance and preservation, and ultimately, developing new design, and construction standards.Seminal developments and current trends in the constraints, methods and solutions of bridge engineering and management over their half-century collaboration are briefly reviewed.
