Lean and Green Manufacturing Integration and Synergy: A Balanced Scorecard Perspective
Lean and green manufacturing concepts are well established within both academia and industry.Lean thinking has been proven to lead to higher levels of production efficiency in many, industries and a green manufacturing acts in a way that minimizes damage to the environment. This paper aims to discern how the two sets of practices interact and how they yield maximum synergy in improving both operational and environmental performance, moreover, to resolve the conflicts between lean and environmental performance.Using balanced scorecard tool as a catalyst to focusing on the relationship and links between lean and green manufacturing practices. Then Lean and green manufacturing integration and synergy may be implemented either sequentially or simultaneously, generating sequential or reciprocal interdependencies, respectively.
