Traditional Features of Chinese Yun Brocade and Analysis of its Application in Fashion Design
Chinese Yun brocade is a kind of high-grade and rare silk fabric with thousands of years weaving history, and is regarded as living fossil of Chinese brocade weaving craft.The fabric of Yun brocade is colored gorgeously, and the patterns embody the beauty of Ming and Qing style which show the antique flavor.The material of Yun brocade is extremely particular, it reflects the noble and imperial style of Chinese tradition by choosing high quality silk and using golden thread.The Yun brocade weaving skills including hundreds of formulas are taught and inherited by dictation, these formulas are precious heritage of craftsmen skills.In view of the important value of Chinese Yun brocade, it is necessary to do more study from the traditional culture aspect, meanwhile, to innovate and design combined with fashion trend can prolong the new vitality of Yun brocade as well as remain the heritage of its culture.Therefore, Chinese Yun brocade has significant value in both research and in-depth design.
