The Robustly Neutral Palladium Complexes for Production PMA with High Molecular Weight and Functionalized it by Copolymerization

The copolymerization of polar vinyl monomers with esters and nonpolar alkenes is one of the most terrific researches, for novel and functionalized materials could be readily obtained from simple commodity monomers. The copolymer of esters and α-olefins would show a good thermo-stability and hydrophobic character originated from C-C backbone, as well as a feature of excellent adhesive due to ester groups. However, traditionally, the polar vinyl monomers were polymerized in radical or anionic initiation pathways, producing polymers with abroad molecular weight distribution (MWD) and low molecular weight. In contrast, non-polar monomers such as alkene derivatives were fabricated into polymer by metal-catalyzed coordination insertion or cationic mechanisms.1 The copolymerization of a polar and a non-polar monomer is a hard task because of the disparity of their polymerization mechanism, although it was achieved at expense of polymer yield by some researches.
