Synthesis and Characterization of Supramolecular Cross-Linkers Containing Cyclodextrin Dimer and Trimer
Rotaxane cross-linked polymers (RCPs) show characteristic properties such as high elongation and stress-relaxation which are attributed to the mobility of the polymer chain at the cross-link points.Previously, we reported the synthesis of vinyl polymer-type RCPs using in-situ formed vinylic supramolecular cross-linker (VSC) consisting of-CD oligomer (OCD) and PEG macromonomer (TBM) in water.1 Facile introduction of rotaxane cross-links into vinyl polymers was achieved, but it is still unclear what structure the VSC forms and how it affects the macroscopic property of the network polymer. Therefore, we newly designed and synthesized well-defined OCDs, i.e.-CD dimer and trimer, to obtain RCPs having clearer cross-link structure compared with previous one (Scheme 1).2 In this work, DOSY NMR measurement and tensile strength test for VSC solution and corresponding RCP were carried out to evaluate the cross-link structures.
