Ethylene Polymerization Using Phenoxy-Imine Neutral Nickel(Ⅱ) Catalysts:Striking Influence of Binuclear Effects on Catalytic Behavior and Polymer Microstructure
Inspired by the preeminent catalytic properties of some enzymes,1-2 multinuclear olefin polymerization catlaysts are also expected to show exceptional catalytic behaviors, and tremendous efforts have been devoted to this field.3-5 Binuclear neutral nickel catalyst based on 9,9-dimethylxanthene framework and the corresponding mononuclear complex were synthesized, characterized and applied in ethylene (co)polymerization.Binuclear catalyst Ni1 based on 9,9-dimethylxanthene framework proved to show strikingly different polymerization characteristics and give distinct polymeric products as compared to mononuclear catalyst Ni2.
