Synthesis of Calix4resorcinarene-based Hyper-structured Photorefractive Molecule via Click Chemistry
Photorefractive hyper-structured molecules (HSM) are molecules that combine different functional photorefractive components such as charge transporting group (CT) and nonlinear optical chromophore (NLO) together to form a complex molecule, and realize its photorefractive effect through the synergy among the components 1.Using carbazole group as transporting group and carbazole-azo-nitrobenzene as NLO chromophore, hyper-structured molecules CRA-Azo(x-Cz(100-x) were synthesized by the Click Chemistry reaction of CRA-Alkyne with Cz-N3 and Cz-Azo-N3, where x =100, 75, 50, 25, 0 represents the molar ratio of Cz-Azo-N3 and terminal alkyne groups of CRA-Alkyne.The resultant HSM was characterized by 1H-NMR, FT-IR, MALDI-TOF-MS, UV-vis, GPC and DSC.They showed good solubility in common solvents such as THF, CHCl3.Their photorefractive performance was evaluated at 633 nm by two-beam coupling (TBC) experiment without external electric field.Among the eight HSMs doped photorefractive system, CRA-Azo100-Cz0 doped system has the best photorefractive performance, which TBC gain value is 83.2 cm-1.
