Synthesis of Halogenated Aminobenzonitrile Modificated Carbon Nitride Materials and Their Photocatalic Hydrogen Evolution from Water

Halogenated aminobenzonitrile modificated carbon nitride materials were prepared by copolymerization, and named as g-C3N4, F-ABN-CN0.05, Cl-ABN-CN0.0s, Br-ABN-CN0.05 and I-ABN-CN0.05 respectively.Photocurrent of the above materials were (sorted in order of size): I-ABN-CN0.05 (I=1.21 μA·cm-2)> Br-ABN-CN0.05 (I=0.93μA·cm-2)> F-ABN-CN0.05 (I=0.82μA·cm-2) > Cl-ABN-CN0.05 (I=0.67μA·cm-2) >g-C3N4 (I=0.39μA·cm-2).The photocatalytic efficiency of the above materials for hydrogen evolution from water containing 10 Vol.-% TEOA as sacrifice agent under visible light(≥400 nm) by 4.0 wt.-% Pt loading were (Sorted in order of size): I-ABN-CN0.05 (84.12 μmol·h-1) > Br-ABN-CN0.05 (55.35 μmol·h-1) > Cl-ABN-CN0.05 (49.12 μmol·h-1) > F-ABN-CN0.05 (41.46 μmol·h-1) >g-C3N4(13.62amol·h-1).The photocalytic efficiency ofI-ABN-CN0.05 is the highest and it is about 6.2 times as that of g-C3N4.It comes down to that 1 g-C3N4 could be substituted by Iodine in sp2-hybridized N elements form a heterocyclic aromatic expansion compared to other halogen ion.Additionally, iodide ion doped g-C3N42, 3 enhanced optical absorption ofg-C3N4, the combination of this two factors lead to the improvement of photocatalytic efficiency of the materials for hydrogen evolution from water.
