Effects of Cyclic Stress in Drying on Dry Heat Resistance of Leather

As leather experiences not only hydrothermal situation but also dry heat in leather manufacturing and daily use, the dry heat resistance is of great importance.Drying is one on the most essential processes in leather making, during which process uniaxial and biaxial stretching may make great influences on mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and elasticity.Compared with constant tension, cyclic stretching may cause different changes for the structure and properties of leather, however, only very few researches have been found focused on this issue and the relationship between dry heat resistance and structure remains poorly understood. Therefore, it is significantly important to investigate the reflection of leather under tension and the change to the aggregation state, which will surely contribute to a better understanding about the relationship between structure and property and optimized leather making techniques.
