Preparation and Properties of Polyimide Composite Reinforced by Polyimide Fiber

Polyimide (PI) has become a popular material used for matrix resin for high performance carbon fiber reinforced composites, due to its excellent heat resistance as well as mechanical properties.However, carbon fiber has some drawbacks which might result in problems in application, such as low interface bonding strength, lack of toughness and poor insulation character.In this case, polyimide fiber become a potential reinforce material because of its similar chemical structure to matrix resin, high toughness and well insulation character 1-2.
