FIRE SAFETY OF THERMAL INSULATION IN BUILDING: NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN EUROPE AND CHINA
Introduction Fire protection regulations in building aim at averting hazards, which threaten the life, health and property of the individual. These principles and objectives are the basis of all national and international fire safety regulations and requirements.Standards and codes of practice based on recognised technical principles are the means of putting the general requirements of fire protection defined in the legislation into practice. While the fire safety levels of construction materials and products defined in the national fire protection requirements are still set by the authorities of the single countries, the fire safety classification and testing standards have become international in the European Union. The European Construction Products Regulation CPR 1 is the basis for the European classification and testing system for the reaction to fire of construction products. The classification to Euroclasses and the relevant reaction to fire tests are described in the standard EN 13501-1 2.
