SYNERGISTIC EFFECTS BETWEEN SEPIOLITE AND ALUMINIUM DIETHYLPHOSPHINATE SYSTEM ON THE FLAME RETARDANT PROPERTIES AND THERMAL DEGRADATION BEHAVIORS OF POLYAMIDE 66 COMPOSITES
The synergistic effect of sepiolite on the flame retardancy and thermal degradation behavior of polyamide 6,6 (PA66)/aluminium diethylphosphinate (AlPi) system composites had been investigated. The results demonstrated that the specimens with the thickness of 1.6 mm passed UL-94 V-0 flammability rating and the LOI value was as high as 32.5% when the total loading amount of AlPi/sepiolite was 10 wt % (sepiolite was 3 wt % based on flame retardant). However,AlPi alone used to flame retardant PA66, the PA66/AlPi composites passed UL-94 V-0 rating when the additive amount of AlPi reached 14 wt %.It can be deduced that the AlPi and sepiolite presented excellent synergistic for flame retardant PA66 matrix.
