IMPACT OF PHENYLPHOSPHONATE-BASED FLAME RETARDANT ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND FLAMMABILITY OF EPOXY AND EPOXY/GLASS FIBER COMPOSITE
Glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites (GRE) have been applied in many industrial fields such as automotive, aircraft, ships and electronic & electrical appliances. However, the intrinsic flammability of epoxy matrix induces potential fire hazard for GRE products. This feature brings large concern about improving flame retardancy of GRE.In this work, one novel type of phenylphosphonate-based flame retardant, N, N-diamyl-p-phenylphosphonicdiamide (P-MA) was synthesized and used to prepare flame-retardant epoxy (FEP) and flame-retardant GRE (FGRE).Impact of P-MA on mechanical properties and flammability of EP (reference epoxy resin) and GRE were studied systemically.
