CYCLOTRIPHOSPHAZENE AND THEIR POTENTIAL AS FLAME RETARDANTS IN POLYMERS

  Phosphazene derivatives have been synthesized, characterized and evaluated using the criteria yield, reactants and decomposition temperature.The influence of the substituent was determined using calculated Lowdin charges and thermal decomposition.Furthermore, selected phosphazen derivatives were processed via extruder and injection molding in polypropylene (PP),polycarbonate (PC) and polyamide 66 (PA66).The products were evaluated using mechanical properties and fire behavior.The influences of all synthesized derivatives on the synthesis of polyurethane (PUR) and cast polyamide 6 (PA6) were evaluated.The most promising system is the cast PA6 with hexaphenoxycyclotriphosphazene.
