TWO-DIMENSIONAL INORGANIC NANO-MATERIALS AS HIGH EFFICIENT FLAME RETARDANTS IN POLYMER COMPOSITES
During the past few decades, nanotechnology has attracted considerable attentions in the field of flame retardant polymeric materials. In this context, two-dimensional inorganic nano-materials have spawned huge research interests in recent years due to their ultra-high aspect ratio and fascinating properties.Various kinds of two-dimensional inorganic nano-materials, including layered double hydroxide, graphene, and their hybrids have been synthesized and used to flame retardant polymer composites. With a relatively low loading of two-dimensional inorganic nano-materials (< 10 wt%), the resultant polymer composites showed the significantly suppressed heat release rate and total heat release. The two-dimensional inorganic nano-material is one kind of promising flame retardant in polymer composites.
