TG-FTIR ANALYSIS OF INTUMESCENT FLAME RETARDANT POLYPROPYLENE TREATED WITH IRON DOPED LANTHANUM STANNATE
Iron doped lanthanum stannate (Fe-La2Sn2O7, simplified as Fe-La) is firstly used as a synergistic agent of PP/APP/PER system, simplified as PP/IFR.TG-FTIR is used to investigate the thermal degradation properties of PP/IFR (75∶25), PP/IFR/Fe-La-1.0 (75∶24∶1) and PP/IFR/Fe-La-1.0 (75∶24∶ 5) systems.The results indicates the thermal degradation of the three samples could be divided into three stages.Firstly, APP reacts with PER forming a char coated on the PP matrix with the release of NH3 and H2O;secondly, the char decomposes with the CH2 releasing;thirdly,the PP matrix decomposes.The addition of Fe-La into the PP/IFR system suppresses the production of alkynes and alkenes, decreases the production amount of H2O and NH3 obviously,which results in alkanes as the major gas products.
