EFFECT OF KETJEN BLACK ON THE FLAME RETARDANCY OF HDPE/ATH COMPOSITES
Ketjen black (KB) was used as a synergist of aluminium hydroxide (ATH) to improve the flame retardant properties of high density polyethylene (HDPE).After adding 15 portions of KB into HDPE/ATH (mass ratio: 100/80) composite, V-0 rating in UL-94 vertical combustion test and 26% of the limiting oxygen index were achieved.Meanwhile the tensile strength and flexural strength were much better than the correspondent HDPE/ATH composite without KB.
