SYNTHESIS AND APPLICATIONS OF SOYBEAN-OIL-BASED PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING POLYOLS ON RIGID POLYURETHANE FOAMS
In this paper, epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) was used as a raw material to react with 2-carboxyethyl (phenyl) phosphinic acid (CEPPA) to obtain phosphorus-containing soybean-oil-based polyols (PCSO).Then, the structure of PCSO was characterized by determination of epoxide and hydroxyl equivalent, as well as analysis of FTIR and 31p NMR spectra. Finally, PCSO was used to prepare inherently flame-retardant rigid polyurethane foams (RPUF).The flame retardancy of foams was evaluated by LOI and UL-94.The tested results showed that the LOI value of RPUF-PCSO was increased by 1.5% compared with neat RPUF, and its UL 94 test level was improved from NR to V-1.After combining with commercial phosphorus-containing polyols (BY30), its LOI value and UL 94 classification were further improved to 22.5% and V-0,respectively.
