MONTMORILLONITE-MELAMINE CYANURATE NANOCOMPOUND IN POLYAMIDE 6

  Polyamide 6 (PA6) was flame retarded by using montmorillonite-melamine cyanurate (MMT-MCA) nanocompound prepared.Their morphologies were assessed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal stability by thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and fire retardancy by limiting oxygen index (LOI), vertical burning testing (UL-94), and cone calorimeter (CONE) tests.The results showed that the MMT-MCA nanocompound can enhance thermal stability and flame retardancy of PA6 because of well nano-dispersion.While, the sample of PA6/MMT-MCA reached UL-94-3.2mm V-0 rating.
