Albino Tea Cultivars and Their Characteristics
Albino tea cultitvars grow shoots in white or yellow colour under certain environmental conditions.There are two kinds of albino tea cutlivars grown in China, i.e.,high light induced albino tea and low temperature induced albino tea.The common features of the albino shoots grown on these tea plants are rich in amino acids and deficient in chlorophylls, with a medium level of tea polyphenols and they are excellent materials for processing top grade of green tea.Traits relating to chemical, physiological characteristics of the albino tea cultivars and albino mechanism were discussed in the present paper.
