Subcellular Localization of Tea Caffeine Synthase and Its Protein Structure Analysis

Caffeine as one kind of alkaloid, exists widely in many plants, for example, in tea and cocoa et al.In China, for the current varieties of tea plants, the overall level of caffeine content is2.3%-6.3%, and most of them is 3.9%-4.3%.But tea used as a beverage, the caffeine has a strong excitatory effects on human brain.In recent decades, how to reduce the content of caffeine in tea has become an important research field, a lot of literatures have been existed in the worldwide revolving round gene mining, new germplasm construction and metabonomics.However, because the tea regeneration system can not be successfully established, the function of caffeine synthase gene still has not been successfully verificated until now.But there is no doubt, caffeine synthetase gene can be used from other approaches to promote tea low-caffeine reserach.
