Dissipation of Acephate and Dimethoate Residues during Tea Processing
Acephate and dimethoate are two registered pesticides in Chinese tea plantation which are widely used in farming to protect from pests and ensure the sufficient production. However, with an increasing attention of food security of people around the world, the residue of pesticides in tea, affects not only tea exports, but also domestic consumption.Unsafe residues and high toxic metabolites may cause potential risks of tea drinkers or threaten to the environments. Many international organizations and countries have established maximum residue limits (MRL) in tea.European Union set it as 0.05 mg/kg for both of acephate and dimethoate (including omethoate), while in Japan the proposed MRL was 10 mg/kg and 1 mg/kg, respectively. In China, it was 0.1 mg/kg for acephate only. There wasnt any MRL standard of dimethoate.
