Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization of Cyclic Olefins by (Imido)vanadium-Alkylidene Complexes
Design and synthesis of vanadium complex catalysts for olefin polymerization attract considerable attention due to the unique characteristics (notable reactivity toward olefins) observed in the classical Ziegler type catalysts.1 We focus on synthesis and reaction chemistry of high oxidation state (imido)vanadium(Ⅴ)-alkyl,alkylidene complexes, and demonstrated that these alkylidene complexes are highly effective for ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene (NBE) and the derivatives.1-3 In particular, the fluorinated aryloxo analogue (1) showed the higher activity.
