Rational Thinking about Leisure Education
Since the Reform and Opening-up, China has witnessed remarkable progress in the development of its market economy-the incomes of urban and rural residents increased notably;peoples living standard has been growing steadily;and per capita GDP reached $5,414 in 2011.After the policy of two-day weekend was adopted in 1995, the number of peoples leisure days in a year reached 116.The increase in incomes and leisure time made the development of leisure activities possible, and provided the leisure industry with ample room for development.However, leisure education throughout the country has not been prepared for the upcoming leisure economy.After the system of market economy was established, there have been changes in peoples consumption concept along with the economic development.Leisure has gradually strengthened its status in the modern society and people are attaching great importance to the relationship between leisure and health.Higher education, in market economy, faces a new choice, and that is to vigorously develop leisure education.Referring to relevant literature for the experience in leisure education from developed countries in the west, this paper, at the policy level, gives practical advice on how to develop leisure education under the new circumstances of economic development and an overall development of a well-off society.
