Introduction In 2005, three years before the successful Beijing Games, the IOC announced that London had won the bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.Central to the London bid was an emphasis on Legacy both for the UK and internationally.A recurrent theme of the Games bid was that of Inspiring a generation to participate in sport and physical activity as well as volunteering and cultural pursuits.An objective that was backed by a series of initiatives both home and abroad.
