Introduction Higher education institutions throughout the world are currently facing the real challenge of meeting the demands of students for learning environments that are purposeful in todays competitive business oriented workplace.Such an issue has, by necessity, forced curriculum designers to start to develop learning environments that are conducive to student-centred learning, which provide opportunities to develop skills that encourage life-long learning, are appropriate for a diverse student population and which, put simply, are not boring.
