Cultivating Cross-Cultural Communication in College English Class

　　College English teachers normally focus more attention on the English language itself but ignore teaching the cultural background knowledge of the target language.So Chinese students easily fall into the trap of assuming that they are learning a new language rather than an entirely new way of thinking,values or intercultural communication.In order to communicate,study or work successfully in todays globalized world,it is essential to raise college studentsawareness of other cultures,norms and values through cross-cultural communication learning.College English teachers have the obligation of cultivating the studentsintercultural communication competence.
