The Analysis on Public Service Advertisements Based on Aristotles Rhetoric Theory
The public service advertisement is a sort of non-commercial advertising which fucuses on public welfare.Like in commercial advertisements,language in public service advertisements is also a device to persuade.This paper analyzes advertising language in public service advertisements from the aspect of Aristotles rhetoric theory.Three main persuasive methods in persuasion are analyzed: logos(logical appeal),pathos(emotional appeal),and ethos(ethical appeal).In this paper,all these three methods used in public service advertisements are discussed individually.
