Sensational novels have attracted the attention of both the mass and elite readers with its insurmountable characterization of females with a number of secrets and the exploration of which can reflect the spirit of Victorian era as a whole.Women s disguise of identity not only reflects their way of surviving in society but also reveals the female education,marital status as well as class segregation and transgression.Their committing of murder illustrates the desire for divorce and protection of financial acquisition.Both the self and forced confinement demonstrates the persistent conflict between the patriarchal domination and manipulation and the female resistance and rebelling.Therefore,the distinctive female characters in the contrast with the conventional ones herald a new trend in novel writing.
