Postmodernist Patricide in Donald Barthelmes The Dead Father
On the basis of Harold Blooms anxiety of influence, this thesis makes a thorough analysis of the American postmodernist writer Donald Barthelmes The Dead Father from the perspective of the father-son relationship between modernist and postmodernist novelists.By interpreting the postmodernist patricide, the thesis maintains that although the postmodernist novelists have overthrown the hierarchy of modernist novelists, they are still struggling in the anxiety of the formers influence, which is the only way to be passed in the establishment of their own fatherhood.
