SSR Characteristics Study considering DFIGs at Different Locations in Large Wind Far
Addressing the Subsynchronous resonance(SSR) problem in doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG)based wind farm and series-compensated network, most of the literatures use single DFIG to represent the entire wind farm. This paper divides the entire wind farm into two wind turbine clusters according to the different locations and each wind turbine cluster is represented by a DFIG. Small-signal model of the two-DFIG system is built and SSR characteristics under different wind speeds, output power allocation ratios and cable impedances are studied. The impact levels on SSR characteristics of two different locations wind turbine clusters are compared. Result shows that the DFIG with short electrical distance from bus-bar has greater influence level than that with long distance. System has higher level of stability with more output power allocated to DFIG that is far from bus-bar. System stability and resonant frequency increase as the impedance of cables between wind turbine cluster and bus-bar increases. The mechanisms of different impact level by DFIGs at different locations are theoretically analyzed.
