Forewords to the Special JEAC Issue Honoring Professor Hong-Yuan Chen

This is with the greatest pleasure that I am writing in honor of Professor Hong-Yuan Chens 80th birthday.I became acquainted with his work many years before I had the chance to meet him for the first time during my first visit to China.This was through reading about the original views he introduced in 1992 to rationalize the behavior of microelectrode arrays (H.Ju,H.Chen;G.Hong,J.Electroanal.Chem,341 (1992) 35),a field that I had pioneered when I was still working with Professor Jean-Michel Savéant.
