Control of the Mechanical Behavior of High Mn Steels by Extrinsic and Intrinsic Parameters
We report on results of the Collaborative Research Centre Steel – ab initio at RWTH Aachen University and Max-Planck-Institute for Ferrous Research. We focus on high Mn steels that show beside dislocation slip further deformation modes like TWIP,TRIP,and MBIP.With sophisticated modelling tools on one hand and a variety of new characterisation tools on the other hand we describe the materials behaviour. We aim at the quantitative understanding of the basic physical phenomena and the impact of various extrinsic (temperature, strain rate and stress state) and intrinsic (stacking fault energy, hydrogen content, microstructure and segregation) parameters. The methods applied and the results obtained will be described exemplarily.
