Microstructure, Mechanical Properties and Tensile Behavior of Super-high Manganese Steel
The microstructure and mechanical properties ofFe-24.1Mn-1.21C-0.48Si steel after water tougheningand aging treatment were investigated by means of mechanical properties testing, optical microscope (OM),X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM).This study was also intended to investigate the tensile behavior of the steel, for this purpose,stress-straincurve was performed. Results showed that with suitable technology of water toughening treatment (1050℃×1h),the experiment steel had the best comprehensive performance with the tensile strength of 856MPa,yield strength of 402MPa,elongation after fracture of 45.2%,impact energy (V-notch) of 236.8J and hardness of 225.3HB.At the aging temperature of 450℃,massive carbides precipitated at austenite grain boundaries in microstructure of the steel with the increase of aging time from 1h to 4h,which caused the pronounced decline of strength, elongation and impact toughness. No other phase except austenite was observed in the XRD pattern of samples after tensile deformation. The strong work hardening ability of Fe-24.1Mn-1.21C-0.48Si steel was due to the formation of high density dislocation under low strain and mechanical twinsunder high strain.
