The Effect of Dislocation Density on the Mechanical Properties and Deformation Twinning of a TWIP Steel
The contributions of individual mechanisms to the work hardening of a Fe-18Mn-0.6C-1.5Al-0.8Si twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steel were separated, based on the constitutive model cooperated with dislocation density evolution. The evolution of dislocation density with strain was determined by the synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiments. It was found that the volume fraction of twins did not exceed 20 % at fracture, and was further suppressed by increasing the initial dislocation density.
